At the time of adoption of the Florida constitution of 1885, the area now comprising Palm Beach County was a part of Dade County. Dade County, along with Orange and Brevard Counties, composed the 7th Judicial Circuit of Florida.
In 1909, Palm Beach County was created out of what was formerly a part of Dade County, officially becoming Florida's 47th county. It was placed in the 7th Circuit, which then consisted of Volusia, Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Palm Beach and Dade counties.
In 1911, the legislature reorganized the Judicial Circuits and created the 11th Circuit to be composed of Palm Beach, Dade and Monroe counties. In 1917, the 15th Judicial Circuit was created and was composed of Palm Beach, Broward, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. In 1925, the 15th Circuit was divided. Palm Beach County was left in the 15th Circuit with Broward, while St. Lucie and Okeechobee were placed in a newly created 21st Circuit.
Later that same year, the 15th Circuit was split and Broward County was established as the 22nd Circuit, leaving Palm Beach County as the sole county in the 15th Circuit. In 1935, Palm Beach and Broward counties were again united as the 15th Judicial Circuit.
In 1963, the 15th Circuit was once again divided and Broward County was established as the newly created 17th Judicial Circuit, permanently cementing Palm Beach County as the sole county in the 15th Circuit.
